The Hellenic U-Space Institute, partner of the SAFIR-Med Project, was invited to participate at the first Common Training Seminar in Unmanned Aerial Systems, which was held with great success at the premises of the Hellenic Airforce Academy, on the initiative of the Hellenic Airforce Academy and under the auspices of the European Security and Defence College. As part of the framework of the European Initiative for the exchange of young officers inspired by Erasmus, the aim of the seminar was to improve the knowledge of Unmanned Aircraft Systems and the new trends and challenges they pose in the modern operational environment of the Common Security & Defence Policy of the European Union.

Dr Christos Skliros of the Hellenic U-Space Institute was an invited speaker amongst other professors and members of the Hellenic Air Force Academy, Hellenic Civilian Universities, Military Academies of EU Member States, the European Security and Defence College and the European Defense Agency (EDA). Dr Skliros gave a lecture within the spirit of understanding different perspectives of the integration of Unmanned Aerial Systems into European Union Programmes; particularly with regards to the necessity of automating drone technology in order to present Urban Air Mobility as a sustainable alternative business practice.  The presentation had a dual focus; explaining the individual systemic developments of the relevant algorithm required to create an autonomous drone swarm as well as the necessity of this technology in order for drone usage to become integrated into the European industry and society overall.
